From the moment I started remodeling, these people started to walk through the door and now, in less then three years, The Red Dress community shines. This bag seriously might be my favorite and I’m sure I’ll wear it until it falls apart.
TRD I can do it all! TRD is for everyone who loves to hunt for the unusual, for people of all ages to learn something new, a place to make new friends and for many it has become a place to enhance their body, their minds and their spirits. The shop gives me a place to share my treasures, the beautiful new classroom gives me a place to teach and the entire space is a perfect backdrop for anyone who wants to share the possibilities with me. Actually, the Red Dress is an exercise in evolution and every day TRD reminds me change is good.
It was beautiful outside, the front door was open, a breeze from outside blew in through the windows and with it fresh wonderful spring air. Back then I had a big round, beautiful table in the shop front and had it set up with all the chairs. We were alone in the shop and probably laughing about one of those Dude Really moments while getting ready to lock up. All I remember is that I was content and happy to be inside the shop witnessing the evening. Things come and go at The Red Dress, that is what it is all about. It was here that I sat and Gail was behind the desk.
The girls started showing up. Someone even decided we needed refreshments and went out over to The Ashland Public Market for snacks. Like me, quite a few women shopped, some decided to play dress up and some, just settled into a chair around the table and enjoyed the lovely experience. We were happy to be gether inside The Dress. People just dropping by to say hi and before I knew it the chairs were taken and I was sitting around the table with the majority of friends. Yep, A Girls Night Out had evolved. A well-known fact that is. The company was good, the breeze refreshing and at that moment it seemed none of us had a care in the world. The music was going, there was laughter and good conversation and I realized there was an impromptu Red Dress party in full swing.
So again the construction began and The Room was built.
It’s like a friend coming over and using the study and there is something comforting about having someone in The Room while I’m working alone in front. There is definitely something enticing about including snacks in the dream, don’t you think? Many people have suggested I turn The Red Dress into a coffee shop and my reply is always the same. Granted it isn’t a big room but big enough for Barbara Kessler to perform and run a Open Mic night, big enough for Soundscapers to come and do a sound healing concert, and big enough for yet another wonderful table and chairs for people to sit around and write with Julie Nardone or paint with Mark Penta. Been there, done that but there are some ideas floating around in my head that include snacks.
These two stories help me see that The Red Dress has become a club of some sort, TRD, not the past. This is what is keeping me motivated and when TRD has things planned like it does for this weekend, I am the happiest. That said, tina from Natick going to be playing music and weather permitting The Patio could be open and if all goes well The Red Dress gonna be Rocking. Ok, and now one of the most important parts. There could be a lot of great deals but the explanation to Girls Night Out is to have a place to hang out. The Dream Factory Community could be using The Red Dress to have an informal gathering and other girls could be stopping by for SNACKS and fun too. Generally, energy Ball dropped me off.
It is astounding how much is inside this little garage but let me assure you I got stuff and it must go.
It will become another place where people can come together. There will be a Thursday Night Girls Night out committee, a Annex workshop director, heck there could even be a musical, writer director to get poetry slams and more open mics set up. I guess this place is truly becomingthe Girl Town, Man Town, and Kids Town I dreamedit couldbe. The question is. How about it? Essentially, the Annex may be opening every Saturday for the summer and in true TRD style it will become more then just a storage place. How about it? Like I said to myself that day I was painting the window trim, anyone who wants to come, take a ride, do the work, and spread the love is invited. With all that said. The Room may be alive with conversation and people and again The Red Dress could be a place for people to come gether and share good things. The possibilities are endless and I remain excited to see who pulls up in their own private Energy Ball with some ideas and a desire to make things happen. Who does not like hanging out in a cool garage?
Imagine moving about in a small sphere, translucent and fluid.
Whenever taking me and encouraging me forward, the Universe has been carrying me. My friend refers to this sphere as my Energy Ball and I am pleased with this description and have come to acknowledge its presence. You have no idea how you ended up inside this incredible bubble, where you are going or when you will arrive but you are completely content to stay inside and watch the world whiz by. As farfetched as this may sound I believe this is how I have been traveling for the last five years and I can tell you from experience being transported to new places in a sphere such as this is an amazing adventure. Have you heard about something like that before? Without fear and no question you are filled with excitement and possibility.
While challenging and frightening things simply by stepping inside a sphere such as this, now imagine doing hundreds of inspiring.
Never questioning where you are going or why, just being open to change. Furthermore, imagine how free you feel knowing no matter where you land, what you find, who you meet, you are exactly where you should be. Imagine the freedom you sense knowing your Energy Ball could be waiting when it is time to move on and once again bring you to another place safely and slowly so there is time to learn your lesson. Imagine feeling more secure than you ever have simply because you are safe in the knowledge your sphere would never bring you or leave you for ages.
The Universe decided to step in and start watching me a little more closely when I decided to leave my last job.
Energy Ball. Energy Ball then, instructed it to wait and get to know me a little and doublecheck if I was worthy of such a gift before she made it visible to me. It was hovering and waiting right by The Peace Shack. Essentially, energy Ball had a plan. When the time came for me to step inside for my first ride I was ready.
Looking back I can remember every detail of every journey. They are musical and rhythmic. Therefore, you are suspended in flight on your floor Energy Ball watching the world through a shimmering, colorful bubble. That said, like a song that lulls you wards peace. Please bear for any longerer, take a big breath and exhale slowly, I want you to settle into another vision with me and imagine this. You are lying on your floor Energy Ball, your favorite translucent beautiful sphere. Energy Ball left me where it did. Known you can hear the ocean sounds and people all around you but the noises do not disturb you. Seriously. You feel like you are sleeping but you are very much awake like when you are on a beach lying on your towel. You should take this seriously. It is important to me you understand the beauty and freedom my Energy Ball has given me. Looking back, no matter what the conditions were I was always safe knowing The Universe was on my side and leading the way, there were a bunch of bouncy flights. a few crashes.
This is how I imagine my journey looked as my Energy Ball was making its way to The North Star Lodge.
The place I now call The Red Dress. Furthermore. This is where I have landed. Energy Ball decides it is time to go and for what it is worth I can’t imagine any other place I would rather have been set down and am grateful my Energy Ball decided to hover here for a while. Energy Ball was for a while. Then again, here I am. Needless to say, front Street in Ashland.
It has been two years since my landing and within that time I have had hundreds of inspirational, humorous and heartfelt moments o good to be neglected and why I’ve decided to start sharing a couple of them. Now you know how I got to The Red Dress and although it may seem a bit unorthodox it is true. You see, a solitary thing you have to do in case you would like to take a ride is trust The Universe will bring for a while. You do too. Consequently, maybe, if I can find the words, I going to be able to communicate their significance. The Red Dress is a magical place and I do not want to forget what happens inside as every situation has taught me more then I ever imagined possible. What is also true is that I am not the main one that has a Energy Ball. Everyone does.
