Dockter said every year look, there’re usually about a dozen students or more who simply can’t afford a dress for prom.
BHS graduate is planning to bring in five or six dresses so organizers are hopeful as word spreads about the event that they’ll have enough dresses for everyone to find something. She said there was a larger than usual number of students who needed dresses for winter ball this year. As a result, dockter said she was recently contacted by a mom who was intending to bring in 15 dresses.
She’ll be saving the leftover dresses that people wish to donate for a short time, until the prom April 16, for those students to look through and possibly pick out a dress.
Brainerd High School Interact and Key clubs are hosting a High School Girls and Guys Day In Formal Wear Extravaganza from 11 to 3 Feb. Only after before winter ball and again before prom, dockter said the clubs are hoping this becomes an annual event, possibly held twice a year. BHS.
Organizers are seeking prom dresses and similar prom attire that teens may purchase at the extravaganza.
Coffee, beverages and hors d’oeurves might be served. Dockter said teens from 15 area school districts been invited to this free consignment sale event, that will include makeup and hair demonstrations, a Do’s and Don’t’s Fashion Show, an up do contest, with door prizes on dining out, tanning, tuxedo rentals, hairstyles and more. Seriously. Dresses and identical items need to be clean. Otherwise, the sellers must pick up their unsold items at 4 Feb. Sellers set their rates lots of the dozen or so dresses already received range in price from 40 on up and decide if the items might be donated after the sale.
