cocktail dresses under 100 An observation in my opinion the usual narrative about splitting your wears or having duplicate items says that we tend to have one favorite and ignore the other similar items.

Sarah and Emmy, you both raised excellent points. I usually aim for 8”s or higher, sometimes we can find them. Emmy, your point about only living once is really good. I’m sure you heard about this. That’s how I got 9 blackish skirts, as I kept searching for a grey skirt that would truly meet my needs. Lately I suspect that when I have duplicates I am having trouble getting rid, it’s because none of the items in a category are quite right.

Try this, if you don’t feel ready to eliminate your less than stellar wardrobe duplicates. See if you get the urge to pull any of these items out to wear them. For instance, would you miss them if they were out of your life completely, if you don’t miss the items in question over a period of months. A well-known fact that is. As always your posts are very helpful and very insightful. Would this shirt ever be my first choice or will I always choose something else instead, if I’m striving to decide if I should keep an item or not in my opinion. A well-known fact that is. If the item is never a first choice it gets donated or consigned. Move those pieces to another closet or into boxes and bags for the next three months. This is where it starts getting very interesting, right? Thank you again for your honesty about your own experiences. Eventually, chances are the answer is no.

One reason why you should wear items you think you love as soon as possible is that you might not really love them once you wear them for an entire day.

There are still o many and plenty of them fall into the duplicates category. Really feel like I’ve gotten it down to a point that I like all the items that are left, thanks for all your great posts I am also making an attempt to reduce my wardrobe. Far I’ve definitely done better with shopping less. Two wardrobes that in theory I like equally. On p of this, it’s going to collect dust in your closet instead of making it out on the town, if something is so fussy that it annoys you while you’re wearing it. Furthermore, then when I’m feeling like I really want to shop for something new, the idea is that I will switch out my wardrobe -pack up my whole closet and unpack the boxed up half of my clothes. Some garments look great while we’re standing still but bunch, slip, and bind when we more around. One is in my closet and one is boxed up. On p of this, so… this will probably sound a bit crazy… I divided my wardrobe into two. Basically, we’ll see! No need to hang them back up in my closet, as I know I’m not going to wear them!

Dottie. Thanks for sharing! My clothes would actually be fairly low on my list. That’s where it starts getting interestinginteresting. This is another good piece of advice.

Thanks for sharing your process with us, Happy Forgiver. Narrowing down one’s color palette is very helpful and I have done identical this year. You’re right that the purging never really ends. There will always be a need to bring a few pieces in here and there and let some other items go, maybe we won’t need to do very much of any overhaul.

My progress had been a lot slower than yours. Keeping a donation bag in the closet is very helpful. With that said, we’re worth it! Known we don’t need as many clothes as we think and we deserve to only wear things we really like and feel good in. That’s what I’ve beenI am doing lately and the fence items almost always end up going. You’ve really made loads of progress quickly and I reckon that being in uch with your whys has played a large role in that. Another option is to move the items that are either on their way out or on the fence to another closet.

Congrats to both of you for doing big purges.

I read your blog and I can see that you’ve come SO far. I get depressed, too, if I reckon o much about the money I’ve wasted. Actually, that way I’m not looking at cocktail dresses when I’m attempting to get out the door to work, and I’m able to limit each miniwardrobe to the essentials. Normally, my current lifestyle means I need to maintain business, evening, casual, and gym wardrobes, which complicates things. Now please pay attention. That’s what I’m doing best in order to do. Although, I get the depression piece also, several thousand items is very impressive. Try to look ahead instead of backwards. I try to remember my progress and trust in the fact that I won’t repeat the many mistakes I made in the past. Consequently, my work clothes in the bedroom closet, my casual clothes in my dresser, my workout clothes in the bathroom closet, and my evening clothes in the hall closet.

We should turn our bedroom into a changing room and shop our wardrobe! You’re right that Rome wasn’t built in a day and that it takes time to pare down an oversized wardrobe. It would make purging a lot easier. Thanks very much for sharing your very helpful tips, Sarah! I also ‘re think’ if I really need to replace it or if I can live without it, when I have something outworn. With all that said. We all need to proceed at our own pace.

At this beginning post, I mentioned Project I’m coming back to that pic now because I believe taking on that challenge was instrumental in helping me to pare down my wardrobe.

Or two years, progress is progress and will be celebrated, if you take two months. My only ‘advice stop’ beating yourself up over wasted money. As the challenge three months went by, I found myself going through my stored clothing and letting go of items bit by bit. Keeping it however long will just keep you feeling bad let somebody else who needs it have it! Debbie and other readers with similar experiences as inspiration! That.
