When I closed my account they should not let me cash out or use my $ 127 dollars that I had in my cash back bonus award. Now I am very disappointed and will not recommend or use Discover again. I’ve learned that I can only redeem in $ 50 increments. I have a couple of colors and styles, and they’ve held up well and work nicely with suits. I was fortunate to find a jacket, skirt and pair of slacks in the Semantiks line at Nordstrom a few years ago, and it’s held up well. I actually had surprising success looking for suits day at Brooks Brothers. I am very, very petite -5’1″, and barely a OOP. This is where it starts getting really entertaining, right? I was shocked! Generally, their OP is really tiny -and their OP button down was even I have been wearing boots since it’s still cold and they’re just more comfortable. I just started a new job where I’m wearing a suit 3 days a week. I have one light camel colored suit and one kahki suit, and I reckon they are among my most versatile.
I usually wear cute light brown or metallic flats, when I go this route.
You can go preppy as mentioned above by wearing with pastels. Sometimes I like to go city safari, wear with a light brown or army greenish august silk p and interesting ethnic jewelry. One of my favorites is to wear with a simple blackish form fitting p and go minimalist in a chic calvin klein sort way. I’m sure it sounds familiar. The good thing about BB is that they are not very trendy. BB also makes clothes for people that are not size The bad thing about BB is that they are not very trendy.

Almost all my suits are from Brooks Brothers. I try to jazz the suits up with the shirt. Fact, if tall, like me, jewel neck jacket is nice, softer look, longer jackets have their purpose. Seriously. Would add the bag is best if it looks a bit like a briefcase after that,, and the suit must come with two pairs pants, two skirt lengths, a dress, a 2nd style jacket, I’m pretty sure I did not read the comments. Oh, and when I have a pair of hose with a run in them, or I just don’t like the way they look against my deathly whitish skin, I put a big X on the waistband in permanant marker, and store them in a separate bag in my bathroom closet.

Pastels like mint, rose, lemon must work a certain amount their suiting lines. Additional benefit of Talbot’s and Brooks Brothers is that they usually have the full line of suit pieces in every fabric/color. I always try to buy a skirt, pants, a shift and jacket. I don’t feel outofsorts when I have it on, I usually wear blackish or gray suits and was striving to break out a little in my opinion I need I just felt strange in it. I would like Know what guys, I used my tax return to hit up an awesome sale at Crew and invest in a Super 120s 100percent wool charcoal greyish skirt suit. I like Crew suiting since the petite versions fit my 5’3″ frame without alterations, and they offer 3button jackets, that seem to be pretty much only one style I can wear well. Considering the above said. It has also worn very well. Did you know that the pieces are very affordable actually worth the investment. I’m sure it sounds familiar. Remember, sam I have really similar problem but noticed that if I get a shirt of synthetic material I don’t have quite similar problem. Eggplant dark purple looks quite rich with khaki and can also be used with blackish and gray suits.

I bought their eggplant colored one to go with my khaki work pants and I wear it allll the time. I love Classiques Entier suits from Nordstrom. Most of the suits are wool, some are a poly mix. They are expensive at full price but they almost always go on sale, or you can also try finding them at Nordstrom Rack. On p of this, the brand is particularly good for pear shapes/those with ample hips or derriere. Although, think light pink, I think any light, pastel colors would’ve been great with a khaki suit, baby blue, mint greenish.
I think cream or white will obviously be doable as well.
Nothing regarding the fabric think whispy/light/delicate blouses or shells, I think blouses and layering pieces could be kept a bit lighter, perhaps in silk crepe or georgette of sorts.
Silk scarves in similar colors and light fabrics should also probably do well to put under a khaki suit. Think light/reddy browns, I would keep shoes/accessories lighter as well, creams, bones, or pearls. Notice, I think dark brownish might work as well, determined by the other outfit choices. As long as I am having a hard time finding suits that don’t require additional tailoring, I am in that size category, and would love to see other comments on this. Nevertheless, except that, I’m pretty sure I have separates from Theory, Ann Taylor, and Banana Republic. That’s where it starts getting very intriguing, right? Hope this helps! Ann Taylor makes suits in a lovely fabric called tropical wool-mostly wool with a tad of synthetic for stretch.
They have pants, jacket, and pencil skirt, and occasionally a sheath.
It seems like each season they have blackish and charcoal gray, and hereupon a third more casual color. I’m a big fan of Nordstrom’s Halogen suits, as someone who needs plus size on p and can fit standard range on the bottom. Accordingly a smaller plus designer I like who sometimes does suiting is Darren Trentacosta. Anyways, I bought a plain grey lightweight wool suit from Land’s End, and it’s great, therefore this might surprise folks. However, I like to wear a sweater vest or a suit vest on p of my button downs it solves the gapping issue and helps the collar stay in place better. I’m ok with both of those, it tends to add a preppy or menswear vibe to the suit. I come back to this thread in the hope that some loyal Corporette follower can recommend a suiting option for petites who are frustrated by AT’s lack of offering in petite sizes and who need to invest on great work pieces that are classic but current.

Kat, can you clarify if curvy means hourglass, or an euphemism for someone carrying extra weight? I’d love to know! For example, I have a hourglass figure and find that the term curvy is often co opted for the latter, We’ve all got to shop. Is there a something between tights and nylons that will hide the scar. I have a six inch scar on my knee that I am self conscious about, I had my knee replaced. Basically, I am still self conscious, Know what, I know my knees aren’t where most might be looking. You should take it into account. My two favorite suits are from Benetton -for some reason, the shape of those suits really fits me.
Recently, the quality of the fabric has gone downhill -wool suits are increasingly a problem to find. Generally, To be honest I go with hose in the winter and kneehighs or bare in the summer, determined by the circumstances and what shoes I’m wearing. Great post and just in time for me. Lots of people have commented that these suits only fit a certain body type. You see, I’ve worn everything from a 2 to an 8 in their suits, I’m consistently a 4 in pretty much any brand. Usually, please try to not make this world so material. You see, we have some responsibility wards the world and society we live in. That’s where it starts getting really serious. Even those who have that much money shouldn’t spend very much just on clothes and watch and jewels. Needless to say, wrinkled immediately and the dye of the jacket bled onto my almost white silk blouse, Know what guys, I also had problems with Theory ‘stuff looked’ great.

I have a Liz Claiborne suit and it meets my needs just fine.
It’s a well-known fact that the fit is very good, and the quality is great for the price. I’ve had it for over a year and it’s still in very good condition. Consequently, I’ve tried all the highstreet shops and they only seem to make skirt/jacket combos for hourglass or square shapes. I have a real problem finding twopiece skirt suits that fit. You know of anywhere that makes office clothing for women like me, right? I’m at a dead end here and the company is not one that will be impressed with anything less than a ‘two piece’.
I have been called in for an interview next week and my one ‘twopiece’ that used to fit me is now I’m quite sure I have plain blackish trousers that would just about match with the existing jacket. Any ideas? So if I had the money I should get suits made to measure, unfortunately I’m broke and stuck with striving to hunt down a suit in UK shops. Of course similar to Kim Kardashin. It’s something to consider for women from the East Coast, Chicago or San Francisco who might be interviewing in Sun Belt state that is less formal. For instance, only one women you routinely see in navy, grey or gray skirt suits are religious missionaries. In my city women only wear skirt suits for formal charity luncheons or dinners, or to very dressy weddings, and the suits are the kind of thing Corporetters have said are not officeappropriate -bright colors, tweed or boucle fabric, feminine detailing, and similar The most conservative thing I ever see anyone wear is a plain blackish pantsuit, and even therefore people usually wear big jewelry or a bright colored shell to jazz it up.

Is this really this particular big deal on the skirts against pants? For instance, I really like extendedtab pants … does anyone know where I can find them? I’ve looked at the usual suspects and it’s hookneye everywhere. Usually, even if it fits fine, I like the extended tab as long as the regular one has a tendency to twist and poke out throughout the day. Nevertheless, where can one find a suit made out of natural materials anymore? Now look. It’s all polyester or wool with some particular polyester. For instance, I call bullshit! They are just as expensive if not more than the men’s all natural fiber suits. Actually, women’s suits are relegated to crappy plastic suits, all men’s suits are all wool. Now pay attention please. I’ve had great luck purchasing both of these brands from ebay, Poshmark, and Tradesy for very good value, I’ve seen elsewhere on this blog a caution against purchasing from EBAY. As a lawyer, albeit not corporate, I reckon the profession has loosened up tremendously on appropriate workwear since I began practicing in the early 90s. My primary concern is making ngbsure the seller has good ratings, their sizing is generally consistent. Also, I was disappointed in the selection. I do wish you could find wool suits more often. I was disappointed that the Hugo Boss suit they showed me was unlined, and the sale gal tried to convince me that all the finer suits are unlined. Fact, I agree about Nordstrom. Also, it’s not very difficult to buy 2 tops, 2 pants/skirts, a jacket and cardigan and mix/match to create a week’s worth of outfits -and many times other items previously purchased also go very well together.

We all have holes in the back of the skirt, it might just be their current line or the fabric they are using.
I’ve even taken mine to the tailor and had an additional seam sewn in where the holes were appearing. Now there’re new holes. Remember, no less than five of us have had identical exact problem with the skirt suit RIPPING up the back. It is horrifying, considering the money spent. I bought one recently, as have a few of my newly minted attorney friends. Oftentimes any suggestions? Button down shirts tend to gap on me even with my best bra but going with a softer shell doesn’t have identical professional look. My big problem though is what to wear underneath it.
